How Do I Prepare for Estate Planning?

The Voeller Law Firm | Jun 3, 2019 | Estate Planning

Meeting with an estate planning attorney doesn’t have to be a stressful experience. When you’ve considered all of the things that you may be asked beforehand, you’ll be prepared to make tough decisions for your future. At the Voeller Law Firm, we are well-versed in all legal documents associated with estate planning in Texas. We have years of experience and can help you make these important decisions for you and your family.

Topics of Discussion During an Estate Planning Meeting

Our estate planning lawyer will ask you questions about your family, including the names, ages and contact information of your spouse or former spouses, children, grandchildren, and so on. Parents,
siblings, and other family members may also be included. We will also need financial information for non-retirement assets. This can include bank accounts and investment accounts, including mutual funds and annuities, stocks and bonds. We will want to have the account names, numbers, balances, as well as current statements. Retirement savings will also be discussed, as well as any life insurance and property
or real estate.

Questions You’ll Be Asked

Our estate planning lawyer will ask you who you would like to receive your property, if you would like to leave things to a church or school, and if there is anyone you don’t want to receive anything. Decisions on who will be the executor of your will or the trustee for your trust are made as well.
